Bomethius
Bomethius is the baroque pop project led by multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, Jonathan Hodges. A classically educated violinist, Hodges draws from a diverse cast of compositional, and artistic influences to craft a sound that is at once unique and familiar — warm and comforting, and darkly satirical.
The seven album Bomethius discography spotlights a constantly rotating carousel of studio and live talent, but most recently includes Jeremiah de la Peña (drums), Dan Kristan (bass), Jeff Tullis (bass), Taylor Vos (electric guitar), Sam Ahmadi (guitar), Chris Stubblefield (trumpet), and Caroline Hodges (lead and backup vocals).
Early Bomethius outings — Intimatitudes (2017) and As Roses (2018) — poignantly explored youth and identity. 2019’s Sweet Nothings grew with the band, melding a more intimate vulnerability, and a more defined chamber rock flare earning it a 10/10 from Atwood Magazine [read article]. Bomethius released inadiquit in 2020, Seasons of Limbo in 2021, and Awful, Pompous, & Artificial in 2022.
Each album represents a pivotal thread in the Bomethius tapestry, but Borrowed Time (2024) is a defining work within the catalogue — and not just because it’s Bomethius’ label debut with Oakley Avenue Records. But don’t just take our word for it! Listen to Borrowed Time, Bomethius' 7th record in as many years, out now!
