Gorilla Tuesday

Move over chimp Monday-Gorilla Tuesday has arrived. The Chicago rock band draws from the spirited musical legacies of indie pop and folk-rock to craft a wholly unique sound - whether at home in your earbuds on a summer's day or a packed venue amidst throngs of fans.

Jimmy Brown is the frontman, spearheading Gorilla Tuesday's creative output with his songwriting chops. His songs tackle the fantasies of fresh romance and the gallows of grisly executions alike. Gorilla Tuesday's goal is simple: ‘never bore the listener.'

Supporting Brown in this goal are guitarist Matt Shack, drummer Gabe Madson, and bassist Steve Trifilio.

Despite the bands fairly standard make-up, Gorilla Tuesday produces surprising symphonies to please the palate of many a music fan. Their single "Beaubien" opens with the rhythm thrumming of Brown's acoustic guitar. The rest of the band joins in a few measures later and lays down a jaunty folk rock track. Brown beckons with his sharp, easy-on-the-ears tenor and, at moments, introduces a slight edge. It's a sonic wonderland that never lets up. You'll find morsels musical, lyrical, and conceptual alike in "Beaubien," providing the perfect gateway into Gorilla Tuesday's wider catalog.

Sorry I Dropped Your Fortune Cookie is Gorilla Tuesday's debut EP, released on March 21st, 2024.

Look out for more from Gorilla Tuesday on Oakley Avenue Records.
